Sabnock

Savnok · Sabnach

Seal of the spirit — Sabnock
Seal of the spirit
Appears as

An armed soldier with a lion's head, riding a pale-coloured horse.

Office

Builds high towers, castles and cities, furnishes them with armour, and afflicts men for many days with putrid, worm-filled wounds.

Notes

He doubles Halphas in the building trade and Vepar in the wounds: Goetic spirits often duplicate one another like clerks of a single chancery.

Apocrypha

Before the fall Sabnock is said to have served under Mulciber, Heaven's architect, acting as a foreman over the angels of his choir, and his warlike bent also earns him a place among the Powers. After the rebellion he was presumably one of the fallen builders whom Mammon set to raising Pandemonium, Hell's capital. The wiki likens him to the Egyptian crocodile god Sobek.

The Chronicle

Sabnock is a Great Marquis of Hell who governs over fifty legions of demons and is the 43rd demon listed in the Ars Goetia.

Appearance

His appearance is that of a fierce and armored soldier with the head of a lion riding a horse.

Overview

Sabnock was an angel that worked under Mulciber before his fall from Heaven and became something of a foreman to the other angels in Mulciber's choir. Sabnock was also purportedly part of the Powers considering his warrior-like tenacities.

He presumably was one of the many formerly divine architects who were commanded by Mammon to build Pandemonium, the capital of Hell.

Powers and Abilities

His abilities include being able to build high towers, castles and cities, and furnishing them with weaponry. He can afflict men for several days making their wounds gangrenous or filling them with worms, and he also gives good familiars.
