Office

Has power over the winds and the sea, drowns men and sinks warships.

Notes

“If commanded by the exorcist he will not hurt any man or thing.” He hopes to return to the Seventh Throne after 1,000 years. The name is sometimes read as an anagram linked to Lucifuge Rofocale.

Apocrypha

The wiki places Focalor among the Thrones that bore God's chariot before he fell for siding with Lucifer, naming Astaroth, Orobas, Murmur and others as his brothers in that order. It notes that "Rofocale," the surname of the archdemon Lucifuge Rofocale — listed as his direct superior — is an anagram of Focalor, hinting at a link between the two, and portrays the spirit as wistfully mourning the sea he once ruled.

The Chronicle

Vast is the sea, her beauty reaching the horizons far and wide. As the winds mark the sea's womb of his own-- the sun bear witness to the everlasting days of pleasure. The stars calm the newlywed water and wind through the darkness. Oh, Father, for how lowly must I be to be punished my absence to bear witness to the harmonious water.— Focalor, reminiscing his days of the sea.

Focalor is a powerful Great Duke of Hell, commanding three or thirty legions of spirits. Focalor is mentioned as the forty first of the 72 goetic demons.

Description

Focalor is depicted in the form of a man with a griffin's wings, kills men, drowns them, and overthrows warships; but if commanded by the conjurer he will not harm any man or thing.

Overview

Focalor was an angel residing in Heaven and was one of the Thrones, angelic beings that support God's chariot. He was banished from Heaven for his role in aiding Lucifer during the civil war.

After his banishment to Hell, Focalor was promoted as a Great Duke of the Inferno, being granted thirty legions of demons. He has power over wind and sea, and like a small portion of the Goetial members, had hoped to return to heaven after one thousand years, but he was deceived in his hope.

One of the archdemons, Lucifuge Rofocale, has his second name as an anagram of Focalor, implying an intellectual relationship.
