Vapula was one of the angels that formerly resided in Heaven and a member of the Virtues. He is believed to have been once the soldier of the archangel Ariel until his fall from grace for joining Lucifer's rebellion against Heaven and God.

After his fall, Vapula was elected as a powerful Great Duke of Hell as he teaches philosophy, mechanics, and sciences.
