О небесном прошлом Лерайе известно немного: чин его не назван, но считается, что уже в Войне на Небесах он сражался как лучник, прикрывая стрельбой мятежных ангелов. Некоторые авторы связывают его со знаком Стрельца.

Overview
Leraje was once an angel residing in Heaven though it is unspecified which choir he was a member of. Nonetheless, he, like the other Goetia demons, joined Lucifer during his war against Heaven and was cast out for his crimes. His occupation as an archer may have also been present before he fell from grace but only during Heaven's civil war where he provided cover support for his fellow rebel angels.
Upon being cast into Hell, Leraje was elevated to the rank of a Great Marquis and given thirty legions of demons to rule over. He causes great battles and disputes, and makes gangrene wounds caused by arrows. Some authors say this demon belongs to the zodiacal sign of Sagittarius.
