Amon

You think me a savage beast? Unlike you, I preside over forty legions of squabbling beasts, thirsty for gore and viscera. Whatever your position is, I am a mountain to your anthill.— Aamon

Aamon is a Great Marquis of Hell and the seventh of the 72 Goetic demons of the Ars Goetia, he governs forty infernal legions.

Overview

He makes men and women fall in love with each other, and he settles disputes between friends and enemies. According to the Grand Grimoire, he is a direct subordinate of Satanachia.

Aamon commands forty infernal legions and is one of the four personal assistants of Astaroth. The seventh spirit mentioned in the Goetia, he is also a part of Christian Demonology, as he is mentioned in The Grimoire of Pope Honorius.

Appearance

He appears as a wolf with a snake's tail who can breathe fire, or as a man with dog's teeth who is situated inside of a raven, or as a raven-headed man. He is also depicted with two forms into one with the head of a dog-teethed raven, the body of a wolf, and a snake tail in place of its back legs.

At the command of a mage, Aamon may take the shape of man with a raven's head, having teeth of a canine.

Personality

Amon is by no means good and would at times kill someone with little retaliation; however, he was not evil. He didn't kill for no reason and would only do so when attacked or if someone stood in his way.

Amon is the sin of violence, and compels others to turn against their fellows and harm the innocent.

Power and Abilities

Even before he gained his demonic appearance he was highly agile, intelligent, and strong during his days as an angel in Heaven.

According to Christian Demonology, it is believed that he is most powerful during the day and has the ability to project flames from his mouth. Aamon is summoned for his knowledge of the past and his ability to predict the future.

He tells of all things past and future. He procures love and reconciles controversies between friends and foes. He is also said to procure favors. Like Amaymon, Aamon is said to have a deadly poisonous breath.

He possessed a vast array of psychic powers being able to detect those nearby and the strength of his enemies. He was able to extend spikes from his wrists that were able to cut clean through organic material which extended to his tail and wings. He could breath fire from his mouth, and fire off a powerful bolt of energy after it builds in power. He could extend his limbs and could breath under water. It is likely that these were only a portion of his powers.

Myth and Legends

According to the Dictionnaire Infernal by Collin de Plancy, he commands forty legions of demons and carries the title of prince. He is also an entity many looked to reconcile friends and foes, and procure love for those seeking it. The Egyptians viewed Amon or Amun as their supreme God; they represented him with the blue skin, in a rather human form.

Pseudomonarchia Daemonum

He was written about by Johann Wier in 1583 in the Pseudomonarchia daemonum

"Amon, or Aamon, is a great and mighty marques, and commeth abroad in the likeness of a Wolf, having a serpents tail, [vomiting] flames of fire; when he putteth on the shape of a man, he sheweth out dogs teeth, and a great head like to a mighty [night hawk]; he is the strongest prince of all other, and understandeth of all things past and to come, he procureth favor, and reconcileth both friends and foes, and rule forthy legions of devils."

And much later by S. L. MacGregor Mathers in the Ars Goetia

"The Seventh Spirit is Amon. He is a Marquis great in power, and most stern. He appeareth like a Wolf with a Serpent's tail, vomiting out of his mouth flames of fire; but at the command of the Magician he putteth on the shape of a Man with Dog's teeth beset in a head like a Raven; or else like a Man with a Raven's head (simply). He telleth all things Past and to Come. He procureth feuds and reconcileth controversies between friends. He governeth 40 Legions of Spirits. His Seal is this which is to be worn as aforesaid, etc."

According to some demonologists, Aamon was the first demon captured by King Solomon when he prevented the construction of the First Temple, and is said to have denounced the other demons as well as its leader Beelzebub
